Hi tasosnikolaou,

It's like Imagin says. Sometimes when the door to the disc cartridge isn't opened fully, this might cause problems. Make sure that you can open the lid to the disc mechanism completely and is not beeing blocked by a Portabrace or KATA protection cover.

Here is the explenation of your error.

20 = Loader assembly errors.
828 = During horizontal move of unloading optical block assembly laser output is stopped judging that no cartridge is inserted.

When this error keeps coming back I suggest you contact your Sony dealer.

Friendly greetings,

Ivan

Hello,
It happens to me once as a Porta Brace cover was locking the disc door on top of the camera. Please, remove anything which could avoid the door to open.
If not, try to open gently manually... maybe there is some kind of glue around the door.

The latest version of XDCAM Transfer works really well.
I;ve not tried the others you mentioned.
Still think the pics from the PDW350 are some of the best!

Mal

Hi all Fujinon owners. I urgently need to replace the lens hood on my Fujinon 4.5mm HD wide lens. It has a mount diamiter of 95mm. No stock is available untill the end of the month, plus they want an unreasonable amount of money. If anyone using a matt box and no longer needs their lens hood I would be very interested. My email address is ftv@optusnet.com.au

Hi,

Editing large project. Can't find some of the footage
we shot.

Get error message and wondering if it has anything to
do with not finding footage. It says:

Failed to compile statement 'selectt2.UMID from
CLIPMETADATA as t1 outer join MEDIAID as t2 outer
join MEDIAINFO as t3 where t1.KEYFRAMECLIPID in (1277,
1265, [there's numerous 4 digit numbers]...) and t1.UMIDID = t2.ID and t1.UMIDID = t3.UMIDID and t3.DISCID = 32;' (1: RIGHT and FULL OUTER JOINs are not currently supported)

Thanks!
joe

I am about to shoot and load XD-Cam footage for the first time (just acquired a PDW-F350, therefore I will be working only with single-layered discs).

I am exploring right now to find the best software for ingesting footage into FCP 7.0.3

I've identified Sony's 'XDCAM Transfer' and also Hamburg Pro Media's 'MXF4Mac'.

How do these 2 approaches stack up, and is one considered better than the other?

I also work with P2 footage, so if the MXF4Mac works well with both cameras, I may as well go with that (I always found the off-English dialogues in Panasonic's P2CMS vaguely disturbing.... "Do you ingest them?"

Er, okay..... This might be the opportunity to get out of this application and leave it behind.

Grant.

Hello, sorry for late reply.

I would say shoot HD and down convert in FCP.
Just be careful while shooting to remember to shot 4:3 (put marker in Viewfinder)
In FCP (if you're a Mac), first create a new timeline SD 4:3 (codec imx50 would be my choice, but this depends on your final customer. Do not choose DV at 25Mb if possible)
and drag your shooting. Do not accept to return to HD quality when asked by FCP, so it will automatically down convert and crop at the same time.

Quality is excellent in SD doing this way.
Export to quicktime keeping same criterias as timeline.

Hope my answer didn't come too late.

Patrick

PS: BTW, i'm not sure camcorder down convert is so good. Usually done for control only... so i would not use the SDI nor HDMI SD output directly.

PMW350 SD output

I have a PMW350. I need to output SD 4:3 for a news agency. I guess my options are:

1. buy / rent a CBK-DV01 (any in Melbourne?)
2. Shoot 16:9 and crop in post ( I have to edit and FTP upload anyway)
3. Output i-link via HDMI or SDI SD to a recorder - thinking Blackmagic Hyperdeck with SSD drive

Questions.
If I use the CBK, is the picture a real SD picture and good quality?
Or do I need to alter paint settings as per outputting via i-link?

Downsize in FCP? Are there any issues here?

Anyone used the Hyperdeck drive?

Any advice gleefully accepted.
Cheers
