Posted on behalf of Craig:
Referring to Sony pmw-ex1/3. In the menus under "clip" -> "title prefix" -> "number set" -> "update". What does "update" Media(A) or Media(B) do and why or when should it be used??? Thank you, Craig Youmans Switzerland

This is like answering my own question
However, 'uptdate' is merely updating the file management of the card. Shouldn't effect clips. Cheers, Mal

With the EX camera's and Final Cut Pro you can edit your footage and then master it back to the SXS card. After you put the card back in the camera the camera won't see the clip until you click update. The camera will add all the necessary files so it can play in the camera.
I recently used this after editing a live event and using the camera to 'play out' the finished program via the HDSDI connector of my camera.
