Hi,
Has anyone else been having problems ingesting xdcam discs into FCP?

I'm getting all kinds of errors from the xdcam transfer software, sometimes it will work with no issues but most times it wont ingest at all. The discs appear to be ok, i can see the file structure in finder and I play the .mxf files with VLC. Some of the discs are reused and were reformatted on the camera before shooting. I shot 9 discs yesterday, 5 on a 700 and 4 discs on the 800, 1 disc worked fine, 2 with errors and 6 wont ingest at all.

I'm told by Sony that I am the only person who is having these problems, is there anyone else having similar problems??

Regards,
Scott

Hello Scott,
I have a 700 since more than one year and re-used disk (50GB) many times without any problems. I'm loading data in Mac using PDW-U1 and XDCAM transfert (actual version 2.12.0) but never from FCP directly... Which version of OSX (mine are 10.6.3 and 10.5.8) are you running ? How do you read the disk ? (camera, PDW-U1)

the problem was solved. It was the cache in xdcam transfer was full, you need to remove the discs from there once you have imported them, Rob at videocraft sorted it out. Sony's error messages kept changing per disc and this didn't help. So the moto is 'remove discs from xdcam transfer when you have imported them'.

I hate being a beta tester for Sony, I pay enough money for the equipment.

Thank you to those who offered ideas.

Regards, Scott
